Louisville Community Mourns Loss of Eli Harmon Jr. Following Shooting

Louisville, Ga. — A confrontation in Louisville on March 13 turned deadly when gunfire broke out, leaving three people injured and claiming the life of 41-year-old Eli Harmon Jr., a lifelong resident of the area. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Deputies responded to reports of a heated argument involving multiple individuals. Before officers arrived, shots were fired, striking three people. Harmon was transported to Jefferson Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The other two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released.

Harmon’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory for autopsy on March 16. Authorities continue to interview witnesses, collect evidence, and work to identify who was directly involved and who fired the shots. No arrests or motives have been released.

Family members have called for anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the need for justice and clarity. Community members have held vigils and shared memories, remembering Harmon as a familiar and valued presence in Louisville.
