Karen R. (Eckhart) Lawson Toledo, OH Death: Beloved Resident Has Died
Karen R. (Eckhart) Lawson passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on December 8, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Ivan and Jessie Eckhart.
Karen shared a life full of love and adventure with her husband, Allen Lawson, enjoying travels across the United States in their camper. A devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Karen’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life, reflected in her generosity, her devotion to family, and her encouragement of others in their spiritual journeys.
Known for her warmth and nurturing spirit, Karen “adopted” many nieces, nephews, and family friends as her own children, teaching lessons in God’s glory through gardening, cooking, and reading the Bible. She was a master gardener for over 20 years, cultivating vibrant, flourishing gardens that reflected her care and dedication. Her love of cooking and preparing for any occasion was legendary, and she often went above and beyond to help others despite her own limitations.
Karen is survived by her husband, Allen Lawson; her daughter, Connie Bertsch; and seven siblings: Margaret (Dale) Lockwood, Darlene (Jay) Bowman, Jackie (Bill) Alberding, Elaine (Tom) Hall, Tim (Donna) Eckhart, Joe (Deb) Eckhart, and Patti Smeal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Jessie Eckhart; her daughter, Mary Crull; two brothers, Charles (Sue) Eckhart and Bernard Terry Eckhart; and a sister, Roberta (Rob) Witte.
While her family and friends mourn her passing, they take comfort in their faith, knowing Karen has been made perfect in Heaven through Jesus Christ. Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will be cherished by all who knew her.
