Police say officers responded just before midnight Friday to the 3500 block of North Roxboro Street, near the Regency Place Apartments, after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found three individuals inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two men — identified as 23-year-old Tevin Burney and 26-year-old Jarrett Godfrey — were pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Burney, known in the local music scene as “YBT,” was recognized as part of the rap collective 83 Babies, gaining attention in recent years for his work and presence in the community.

The families are expected to release obituary, memorial, funeral, and visitation arrangements in the coming days. Pending those details, not all information may be fully confirmed, and this report may be updated as new information becomes available.
