I‑40 Iredell County Crash Kills Morganton Driver, Leaves Passenger Hurt
Morganton Man Dies in Rollover Crash on I‑40
Iredell County, N.C. — A morning drive turned tragic on Monday when 78-year-old Lee Glover of Morganton died after his SUV left the roadway and rolled over on Interstate 40 near mile marker 154. Glover was driving eastbound in his 2010 Toyota Highlander when the vehicle veered off the pavement, struck an embankment, and flipped several times before coming to rest on its roof.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Glover was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. A front-seat passenger, Catherine Glover, was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Troopers reported that weather and road conditions were clear, alcohol was not a factor, and speed likely played a role in the crash.
Friends and family remember Glover as a longtime Morganton resident who cherished time with loved ones. The Highway Patrol continues to remind drivers to wear seatbelts and adjust speed according to road conditions. Updates may be issued as additional information becomes available.
