Kouri richins- Utah children’s book author Kouri Richins convicted in husband’s murder
In Utah, closing arguments have concluded in the high-profile murder trial of Kouri Richins, a children’s book author accused of poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, in 2022.
Jurors at the Silver Summit Justice Center near Park City are now deliberating five charges, including aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder, forgery, and two counts of insurance fraud. The panel is expected to continue discussions into the evening.
Prosecutors allege Richins administered a fentanyl-laced drink to her husband, pointing to what they describe as a clear financial motive. The defense, however, argued the state failed to meet its burden of proof, urging jurors to carefully weigh the evidence presented.
Richins has pleaded not guilty to all charges. A verdict will be determined by the jury following deliberations.
