Mason Michael, Obituary Bushnell IL, Death: In Loving Memory of Mason Michael

With heavy hearts, the community of Bushnell, Illinois, mourns the passing of Mason Michael Draughan, who died peacefully at home on March 16, 2026, at the age of 19. Born on January 2, 2007, in Canton, Mason was a source of love, inspiration, and courage for all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted parents, Chris Michael Draughan and Janice Mae Jepperson of Bushnell; his sister, Madison (Braden) Fonner of Groveland, IL; and his brother, Myles Draughan of Bushnell. Mason is also remembered by his grandparents, great-grandparents, extended family, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mike Draughan, and maternal grandmother, Laura Jepperson.

A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, Mason brought passion and excitement to every game, defending his team with boundless enthusiasm. Beyond football, he was known for his selflessness and compassion, always putting others before himself. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Zoey, whom he purchased with his own savings at the age of nine. In honor of his love for animals, a memorial dog park will be established in Bushnell to celebrate Mason’s caring spirit.

Despite facing physical challenges and living much of his life in a wheelchair, Mason embraced every moment with courage and joy. His resilience was matched by the unwavering support and love of his mother, who nurtured a life for him filled with meaning and happiness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Experience Assembly of God Church, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the service. Cremation will follow. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite athletic gear to honor Mason’s spirit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mason Draughan Memorial Dog Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Martin-Hollis Funeral Home.

Though Mason’s life was far too short, his courage, love, and compassion leave a lasting legacy. He will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew him and through the joy and kindness he brought to the world.
